Exchange

Your customers will be able to request an exchange for another product (regardless of product value) by accessing the product catalog and product availability from the returns portal

There are 2 types of exchange:

  • Exchange by another variant
  • Exchange by other product

Exchange by another variant

The customer requests an exchange for one of the product variants (e.g., color or size). Variants are defined by the options available in the Shopify catalog iF creates a new order at 0 value or at the same price of the exchanged item (depending on configuration)

Exchange by other product

The customer requests an exchange for any product from Shopify catalog The price of the new product could be: higher, lower or the same, compared with the amount paid by the customer for the returned product

 


Where I can find the configuration?

 

Go to Settings -> Refund Method. You will find Exchange section below Store Credit and Gift Card

Same as with Gift Card and Original Payment Method Exchange offers the following ways to manage refunds:

  • Automatically after validating the product

Means when a new item will go only after the old one arrive and has been validated

The process takes more time but it is the safest one as a merchant can make sure that the Item is arrived and there is no issue with it. 

  • Automatically in the creation of the return

Ones the return is created then the exhcange goes automatically 

 

It is a bit dangerous cause a merchant doesn't know the condition of a returned item while the refund is already sent. 

  • Manually

First a merchant receives an item, validates it and then send a new exchange item

The slowest way but the safest one.

  • Refund at shipping completed

Once the shipping is completed a new exhcange item will be sent to the customer

  • Refund at shipping in progress

At the moment of Shipping Process a new exhcange item will be sent to the customer.

 

 


You can show products with more than "X" amount of units and also enable free shipping for exchanges.

Exchange for another product of higher, lower or same price

When a customer wants to exchange for another product you can customize whether you want customers exhcange for product of higher, lower or same price.

Promotion

At the moment we offer the following method of Exchange refund:

  • FixedAmount
  • Percentage
  • PercentageFullPrice

Here what customers will see if you set up Percentage of 5%.


Product Promoter

Allows you to configure the type of product you want to promote to exchange for another product. 

This is what your customer will see when you set up only "Related Products" and "Collection".
