This configuration helps merchants adjust Refund Methods based on the conditions
There are 3 methods you can adjust:
1. Exchange for another product and it has:- Exchange for another variant
- Exchange for another product of higher price
- Exchange for another product of same price
- Exchange for another product of lower price
2. Gift Card
3. Store Credit
Both Gift Card and Exchange offer the following types of promotions:
- Fixed Amount -> you offer any amount of discount.
- Percentage -> Amount from the one item price
- Percentage Full Price
Let's see an example of Exchanging for another product:
Go to the Settings -> Rules page and then click on "+ Add Rule" button.
Once you put Rule name, Description and Condition go to the "Set Actions" part.
On the "Set Actions" part click on the "+Add Action" button
On the following widget select "Refunds" and click on the "Next step" button
After that, select "Change Incentive of Refund Method" and click on "Confirm"
Once you select the "Change Incentive of Refund Method" action you will see two fields:
1. Select the affected refund method
2. Select the incentive type
Click on the Select the affected refund method field. In the dropdown you will find 3 options. Select the one you need. In our case we choose "Exchange"
Once you select the Affected refund method it is time to select the incentive type.
Let's pick the "Fixed Amount"
After that appears another field asking us to set the Incentive value in €. You can put any price.
Once everything is set up go to the top of the page and save changes.
This what your customers will see after the changes are applied:
As you can see the Exchange type offers 20€, the same amount that we set up.
Now, It is important to undertand how the incentive works in Exchange refund.
The extra applies only when the exchange product price is higher than the product a customer wants to refund.
Example:
Your product costs 120€
You decide to exchange for another product that costs less.
In that case the Extra 20€ will not be applied
The other example
Your product costs 120€
You decide to exchange for another product that costs more
What happens in this case?
The system deducts 120€ from new product price and then applies Exchange promotions which is 20€.
To sum up: 1000€ ( new product price ) - 120€ ( product to return price ) - 20€ ( Excnahge discount ) = 860€ to pay
